The last remnants of the drop of coffee spilled days earlier had shaken loose from their precarious hold on the sealing ring. There was little substance to it, but their introduction into the otherwise pristine environment created a reaction that might have been stopped if caught from the moment it started, but it had grown to the point where nothing could stop it. The reaction of the primordial energies of the dimensional chamber mixed with the nearly evaporated coffee tore apart the barrier Evan had created and opened a rift stable enough to allow something through.
