CHAPTER THIRTEEN
Evan stared at the hospital room door, willing it to open, but it remained closed and locked just is it had the previous three days. The beeping and whirring hospital machines that surrounded him were his only companions . An occasional doctor or nurse would come to the room to check on him, but they never spoke, and seemed far less human.
When the medical team reached him and Aldric ion the lab, they immediately sedated both of them despite Evan's protests. He woke in the medical wing, strapped to a bed with a dozen machines monitoring every aspect of his biological existence. He had stopped shouting after the first day and had given up hope of ever getting out of the room by the morning of the third.
