Top-shelf urban fantasy! Even though this book is well into the series it is still a greatly enjoyable read. If you like urban fantasy fiction at all you will enjoy this book

This book is a fascinating twist on the classic tale of the Grim Reaper. Seeing Death as a detective on a mission to save the world rather than end it was intriguing. The struggle for identity and power against the backdrop of an approaching Apocalypse added depth to the narrative. This unique take on the Grim Reaper’s role had me riveted from start to finish.

This suspense-filled story, with its twisting plots, is unlike anything I have ever read. It intertwines urban life and mythological characters with supernatural powers. Justin, the Fallen Angel of Death, lives beneath the streets of the city with Lilly, his girlfriend, and a group of elves who have never ventured into the unsafe world above them.

The story unfolds with the disembowelment of a Wizard and the taking of his powers, leaving the Wizard community frightened. The protagonist, Justin, is trying desperately to regain his memory and lost abilities when he is asked to investigate the growing number of bizarre Wizard murders.

I found the book “A Murder of Wizards” and quick and entertaining read. I was impressed by the numerous action sequences. It was a unique mythology that highlighted the the inner conflict of the main character as well as well developed and interesting supporting characters. While I am not typically a fan of dark scenes, the quality of the writing kept me turning pages late into the night. If you are a fan of this genera you can look forward to a well crafted story.

There is a considerable amount of character development, the pace is just spot on, and the world-building is really fantastic.
This, the third book in the series, is a very pleasant read on its own because Eric Swett is able to provide the reader with just the right amount of background information. I thought the author’s writing style was enjoyable, and I couldn’t help but feel that it was something similar to the manner of Jim Butcher, who is the author of The Dresden Files.

Witty and fun in a slightly dark fashion. Another solid entry from this author. Look forward to more in the future!
