Danger and deception
Apocalypse Rising by Eric Swett

Spending his time around drug addicts and drunks didn’t do much for Justin’s morale and after witnessing the death of a woman things just got worse. Being left with no choice but to return to the life he had left behind, Justin battles corruption and danger in his struggle to save himself, his friend and the world!
We are given a bit of a mixed bag as far as the writing is concerned in this book. Some of the chapters are written in 3rd person and they are of an average standard. I am not blown away by the style but it is okay and readable. Other chapters are written in 1st person POV and to be honest they are not written very well. I was initially put off in the first chapter because of the amount of `he says’ `she says’ and `I say’ that were around the dialogue so it made me pay more attention to the writing than the story for the rest of the book which distracted me slightly.
The story itself is full of action, deceit, deception and danger and is at times quite exciting. A relatively short novel that lacks in character development could have been made more engaging by being given more depth and length.
