What a terrific read! A Murder of Wizards: Apocalypse Rising: Year 2 features Justin, who is, in actuality, a Horseman from the Biblical book of Revelations. Author Eric Swett’s version of The Angel of Death is a gritty protagonist who’s in love with Lilly, a human girl, and trying to solve the murders of wizards, as well as trying to save Lilly’s life… and trying to convince police detectives he’s not the killer when they continually find him at the murder scenes.

The character development is rich, the pacing is totally on point, and the world-building is excellent.
Eric Swett also manages to give the reader just enough background information that this, the third book in the series, is a very satisfying stand-alone read. I enjoyed the author’s writing style and found it vaguely reminiscent to Jim Butcher’s style (author of The Dresden Files).

A Murder of Wizards: Apocalypse Rising: Year 2 gets five stars from me and a hearty recommendation!
