Okay, I know it has been a while since I’ve posted anything but writing or a writing update, but this morning I woke up to find an alert on my phone. Was it an emergency? No. Did war break out? No. More terrorists? No.  All of these things would have been enough to warrant an alert, but this was something good and it has helped me start off my day on the right foot.

I am a long time fan of the game BattleTech. I have played the boardgame version for years. I have played all of the X-box, DS and PC versions of the game over the years (for better or worse, and believe me when I say some of them were definitely for worse), but the good old fashioned board game version has always been my favorite. For the last few years I have been playing Megamek, which is basically the board game played on the PC. I love it and play it often, but it is less than exciting from a visual standpoint.

Earlier this year there was an announcement made that MechWarrior Tactics would be coming out this summer. It will be a marriage of the boardgame I love so much, with a more appealing visual setup. Best of all? It is free. Now I am not pinning all of my hopes on the game and I will never give up on Megamek, but I am pretty excited.

Now what does all of this have to do with the alert I got this morning?  Well it was telling me that there is a gameplay trailer out now. So like any good geek, I ran downstairs, hopped on youtube and found it. So without further ado, I present to you: Mechwarrior Tactics.
